The 2018 edition of the Sustainable Textile School is ready to welcome guests and participants from all over the world. More than 200 experts from all fields of the textile industry, from science and engineering, startups, associations and various ambassadors for a circular textile chain will gather in Chemnitz, Germany, from September 10-12, 2018.

The programme is set to provide a solid blend of forefront thinking and practical solutions, ready to enable the next small steps towards mastering the engineering of the textile chain in a sustainable way.

The session mix between plenaries and breakouts will cover topics from systems design, chemical management and traceability to the preferred fibres and new sources, the organisers said.

The speakers list includes CEOs and high-level executives from Hugo Boss, Saitex, OECD, London College of Fashion, Vaude, IAF, Lablaco and may more. On the second day of the conference, a joint approach in the form of a World Café will attempt to convert the solutions and ideas into practical recommendations for action for the immediate future.

In order to provide the topic of resource efficiency and sustainability with the necessary attention in the fields of engineering, development, and purchasing, recycling is the main focus of this year’s STS. The motto Realcycling & New Sources will be shared by more than 200 professionals and students from all sectors of the textile industry. At the same time, they are working on new content for the planned Textile Online University 4.0, which will use the powerful tools of digitisation to communicate new knowledge, technologies, and business models across the entire industry.

The solution search is underpinned by a pre-survey that can be accessed through the website of the Sustainable Textile School (STS). Following up the 2018 edition, a book on Sustainable Textile and Fashion Value Chains: Drivers, Concepts, Theories and Solutions will be published, right before the 2019 edition of the STS that will take place in Zurich, Switzerland.
